DyBond® HR
Resin Treated Nomex®
Ensuring safety in battery technology is paramount. Thermal runaway from uncontrolled heat generation and electric short circuits poses a significant risk in multi-cell Li-ion batteries, potentially leading to fires and conflagrations. Insulation materials play a vital role in preventing the spread of intense heat between cells/modules and acting as dielectric barrier.
DyBond® HR is a resin-treated Nomex with enhanced dimensional stability, making it resistant to humidity and moisture exposure. It's specifically designed for battery applications, offering benefits during storage, manufacturing stages, and in-operation.
The combination of flame-resistant Nomex and special intumescent resin makes DyBond® HR an optimal solution for thermal propagation protection and flame barriers. It meets Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 94 V-0 requirements for flame-resistance and maintains long-term thermal stability up to 200°C.
DyBond® HR provides excellent electrical insulation, preventing contacts or short circuits, and offering excellent tear and puncture resistance. Additionally, the Nomex substrate's high chemical inertia ensures resistance to lithium-ion battery electrolyte leaks.
The combination of such characteristics and the easy processability make DyBond® HR ideal for use as cell-to-cell spacers, barriers or wrapping and module covers, under battery covers.
